 2        delimited by double newlines. This is also how
 3        <span class="application">TeX</span> defines a paragraph. Note that jEdit
 4        doesn't parse HTML files for &#8220;<span class="quote">&lt;P&gt;</span>&#8221; tags, nor does it
 5        support paragraphs delimited only by a leading indent.</p><p><code class="keycap">C+UP</code> and <code class="keycap">C+DOWN</code> move the caret
 6        to the previous and next paragraph, respectively. Holding down
 7        <code class="keycap">Shift</code> in addition to the above extends the selection a
 8        paragraph at a time.</p><p><span class="guimenu"><strong>Edit</strong></span>&gt;<span class="guisubmenu"><strong>More
 9        Selection</strong></span>&gt;<span class="guimenuitem"><strong>Select Paragraph</strong></span>
10        (shortcut: <code class="keycap">C+e p</code>) selects the paragraph containing the
11        caret.</p><p><span class="guimenu"><strong>Edit</strong></span>&gt;<span class="guisubmenu"><strong>Text</strong></span>&gt;<span class="guimenuitem"><strong>Format
12        Paragraph</strong></span> (shortcut: <code class="keycap">C+e f</code>) splits and
13        joins lines in the current selection to make it fit within the wrap
14        column position. If nothing is selected, the paragraph containing the
15        caret is formatted instead. See <a class="xref" href="word-wrap.html" title="Wrapping Long Lines">the section called &#8220;Wrapping Long Lines&#8221;</a> for
