16. 0.6.0 have just been released.
17.
We're pleased to announce the release of Overflow 0.6.0. Overflow
18. is a free (GPL/LGPL) "data flow oriented" development environment. It can
19. be use to build complex applications by combining small, reusable building
20. blocks. In some way, it has similarities with Simulink and LabView, although
21. it is not designed (and far) to be a "clone" of any of them. Download it
22. from sourceforge here.
23.
It is written in C++ and features a plugin mechanism that allows plugins/toolboxes
24. to be easiliy added. Overflow currently includes the following toolboxes:
25.
- Audio/Signal processing
26.
- Speech processing (part of the Open Mind Speech project)
27.
- Vector quantization
28.
- Neural network
29.
- Fuzzy logic
30.
- Real-time audio effect processing (early stage)
31.
- Linear algebra using LAPACK (early stage)
32.
- Image processing (early stage)
33.
This release brings a number of important improvements:
34.
- Many, many improvements to the gnome GUI (copy/paste, tooltips, bug
35. fix, ...)
36.
- C++ code generator (generated code can now be compiled on Win32)
37.
- Basic networking support
38.
- Improved debugging
39.
- Speed improvements (also, auto-detection of 3DNow! and SSE)
40.
- Overflow "shell scripts" (#! files)
41.
- Lots of fixed bugs
42.
- Big code cleanup and simplification (warning, this breaks some minor
43. things)
44.
There are also good news for the project. Overflow has been adopted
45. by InfoSpace Speech Solutions for implementing part of a speech recognition
46. engine and should ship in a future version of the product. Note that Jean-Marc
47. Valin (project admin) works for InfoSpace
48. / LocusDialog.
49.
Overflow is now also used in the LABORIUS mobile
50. robotics lab at University of Sherbrooke and a robot control toolbox
51. is soon to be released!
52.
There is now an on-line
53. survey on SourceForge. Tell us what you think about Overflow!

59. 0.5.0 have just been released. This new release brings
60. a number of improvements over version 0.4.3.
61.
These improvements include:
62.
- Binary I/O (serialization/unserialization) of objects
63.
- Major improvements to object ASCII I/O, mostly
64. with the Vector type
65.
- Default FFT implementation when FFTW is not available
66.
- Possibility of passing any object type as a parameter
67. from the GUI
68.
- gcc 2.96-RH support
69.
- Performance improvements
70.
- Fixes for Piper
71. compatibility
72.
- Several new nodes
73.
Issues:
74.
- It is not clear whether Overflow compiles with
75. gcc 3.0 installed in
76.
the standard (/usr)
77. path

79.
Overflow 0.4.3 has been released. This is a minor release which provides
80. the functionality for speaker identification system (authentification of
81. the speaker) . The files are available at : ftp://freespeech.sourceforge.net/pub/freespeech/speaker_verification-0.0.1.tgz
82.
You need to install the latest
83. version (0.4.3) of Overflow to use the speaker identification system.

87.
It's been a while since the last update. Lots of new stuff has been
88. committed recently and we're working on stabilizing the code before a new
89. release. Recent updates include optimizations, better portability and of
90. course, new nodes.
