  36. <PRE>
  37. All,
  38. on the IETF Hybi mailing list there has been some discussion regarding the
  39. protocol that should carry WebSockets.
  40. There was considerable divided opinions about the style of protocol that
  41. would be most appropriate and what level of features should be supported
  42. etc. That conversation ground to a stale mate as I think
  43. considerably different view points were involved.
  44. So it was decided by some to prepare an alternate transport protocol
  45. proposal. At the very least, this proposal would serve better
  46. illustrate many of the concerns and ideas that are difficult to
  47. express in long email threads.
  48. Hopefully, this proposal may influence the eventual design of the
  49. websocket proposal, or it might grow to become a real contender
  50. as an alternative (which currently it is not - lacking vital
  51. elements such as working implementations and wide peer review).
  52. Anyway, I'd like to invite the participants of this list to
  53. give the BWTP proposal some consideration and review:
  54. <A HREF="http://bwtp.wikidot.com">http://bwtp.wikidot.com</A>
  55. I suggest reading the rational page <A HREF="http://bwtp.wikidot.com/main:rational">http://bwtp.wikidot.com/main:rational</A>
  56. first before looking at the proposal: <A HREF="http://bwtp.wikidot.com/main:proposal">http://bwtp.wikidot.com/main:proposal</A>
