  79. 									<p>The CAA Online Forums has been established as an area on the Web where individuals associated with Massachusetts Community Action Agencies (CAAs) can exchange information and engage in online "discussions."  This Web capability goes by several names-bulletin boards, discussion forums, chat rooms.</p>

  80. 									<p>For the Massachusetts CAAs, the idea is to provide a mechanism that will allow remote collaboration and information sharing on topics of importance to low-income communities. Rather that relying on the phone, the CAA Online Forums provide the 24/7 alternative of running a question or suggestion up the electronic flagpole and letting the people speak.</p>

  81. 									<h5 class="headline"><a name="evolution"></a>Evolution of the Forums</h5>

  82. 									<p>The CAA Online Forums are primarily intended for use by individuals working at one of the 25 CAAs across the state. However, the use and availability of the forums is still evolving. With the current configuration of the forums, access to discussions is available with registration as a user.</p>

  83. 									<p>Future versions of the forums may limit access to some discussion categories or to the forums area altogether.</p>

  84. 									<h5 class="headline"><a name="howtouse"></a>How to Use the Forums</h5>

  85. 									<p>The forums are easy to use once you get oriented. Here's a bit of introductory information to help you get started:</p>

  91. 										<li>When you go to the site, you will see a list of forum categories. To participate in the forums, you must first register. Do this by selecting the Register button in the top area of the page. In registering, you establish your user profile (i.e., your identity as a discussion participant) and the username and password you will use to access the forums. When you register, provide your email address and you will immediately receive an email that acknowledges your registration and provides a link that gets you to the discussion area.  It is not possible to participate in the forums without first registering. On subsequent visits, you must log in.</li>

  92. 										<li>When you select a forum category from the menu, you will access a list of discussion topics within that forum. (If there are no discussion topics yet, you must start a topic-which is easy to do. See the next item in this list.) Selecting a topic enables you to read posted messages and to post responses. (When you add a message, be sure to click the Submit button at the bottom of the message posting form to add it to the forum.) And you can go back and edit or delete any of your posted messages. </li>

  93. 										<li>Within a forum, you also can start a new topic of discussion. Selecting the New Topic button opens a window where you can establish the new topic. This area also lets you add interesting features for the topic you establish. For instance, you can choose to receive an email whenever someone has posted a message to your topic. You can even add a poll to your topic, by posing a question and letting participants vote on it.</li>

  94. 										<li>Using the other buttons in the top area of the page, you can do things like search the forums by keyword, post a private message to a specific forum user, and review and edit your user profile, which you establish when you register.</li>

There is also a forum for posting questions, comments, and feedback to the administrator of the forums. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to the forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.</p>
