  29. .Os
  30. .Sh NAME
  31. .Nm vpo
  32. .Nd parallel to SCSI interface driver
  33. .Sh SYNOPSIS
  34. .Cd "device vpo"
  35. .Pp
  36. For one or more SCSI busses:
  37. .Cd "device scbus"
  38. .Sh DESCRIPTION
  39. The
  40. .Nm
  41. driver provide access to parallel port Iomega Zip and Jaz drives.
  42. .Sh HARDWARE
  43. The
  44. .Nm
  45. driver supports the following parallel to SCSI interfaces:
  46. .Pp
  47. .Bl -bullet -compact
  48. .It
  49. Adaptec AIC-7110 Parallel to SCSI interface (built-in to Iomega ZIP
  50. drives)
  51. .It
  52. Iomega Jaz Traveller interface
  53. .It
  54. Iomega MatchMaker SCSI interface (built-in to Iomega ZIP+ drives)
  55. .El
  56. .Sh USAGE
  57. The driver should let you use a printer connected to the drive while
  58. transferring data.
  59. .Pp
  60. DOS and
  61. .Fx
  62. file systems are supported.
  63. When mounting a DOS file system or
  64. formatting a
  65. .Fx
  66. file system, check the slice of the disk with the
  67. .Xr fdisk 8
  68. utility.
  69. .Pp
  70. In order to unixify a ZIP disk, put the following in /etc/disktab:
  71. .Bd -literal
  72. zip|zip 100:\\
  73. :ty=removable:se#512:nc#96:nt#64:ns#32:\\
  74. :pa#196608:oa#0:ba#4096:fa#512:\\
  75. :pb#196608:ob#0:bb#4096:fb#512:\\
  76. :pc#196608:oc#0:bc#4096:fc#512:
  77. .Ed
  78. .Pp
  79. and use
  80. .Xr bsdlabel 8 .
  81. .Pp
  82. If you have trouble with your driver, your parallel chipset may not run
  83. properly at the detected mode (NIBBLE, PS2 or EPP).
  84. Tune the
  85. .Xr ppc 4
  86. bootflags to force other modes.

  96. manual page first appeared in

  100. manual page was written by
  101. .An Nicolas Souchu .
  102. .Sh BUGS
  103. During boot, the driver first tries to detect a classic ZIP, then a ZIP+.
  104. The ZIP+ detection is intrusive and may send erroneous characters to your
  105. printer if the drive is not connected to your parallel port.
